The notice below was provided by the Weston Board of Selectmen.
The Board of Selectmen would like to hear from Weston residents wishing to serve on the Board’s newly created Town Meeting Advisory Committee. This committee is tasked with making recommendations to the Board regarding Article 1 of the General By-laws of the Town of Weston relating to Town Meeting. Such recommendations may address but are not limited to the following:
- Day of the week and time of day that Town Meeting is held
- Notification requirements
- Method of voting
- Town Meeting procedures
In addition, the committee may make related recommendations relative to the conduct of the Town Caucus and the Town budget hearing, in order to improve the level of voter participation.
The committee will be comprised of a representative of the Board of Selectmen; a representative of the School Committee; a representative of the Finance Committee; a representative of the Planning Board; a representative of the Community Preservation Committee; a representative of the Council on Aging; a representative of the Weston Parent Teachers Organization (PTO); a representative of the Weston League of Women Voters and; up to four additional registered voters of the Town of Weston, appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The committee shall begin its work as soon as it is appointed and shall complete its work by October 1, 2013.
