Spellman Museum Gears Up For Big Unveiling

The Spellman Museum in Weston will play host to an unveiling of new stamps this week.

The Spellman Museum of Stamps & Postal History in Weston will be the site of stamp history Friday as a new coil of 100 stamps is unveiled in a short public ceremony.

The coil of stamps is titled "A Flag for All Seasons" and features seasonal images of the U.S. flag.

The First Day of Issue ceremony is free and open to the public. Guests will be among the first people in the country to see the new stamp design and purchase the stamps

Boston Postmaster James Holland will be in attendance along with Spellman curator George Norton, and the U.S. Postal Service Color Guard.

The ceremony begins at noon and the exhibit opens at 11 a.m. Parking is available at the museum.

According to announcement from the U.S. Post Office:

Each of the four "A Flag For All Seasons" stamps shows an American flag, viewed from below, flying from a pole at full staff against a background of trees that evoke one of the four seasons of the year. Commemorative stamp envelopes which feature the stamps will be available for minimal cost — these items can be collected along with stamps.

A booklet of 20 "A Flag for All Seasons" will be available on May 17.
