Volunteers Sought for Weston COA, Town Committees

COA seeks drivers, callers for seniors; several town boards have volunteer opportunities.

The following is information from the town of Weston.

Weston residents looking to make a difference or contribute to their town have plenty of opportunities close to home.

According to the town website, new volunteers at the Council on Aging (COA) are always welcome, with particular emphasis on the FISH (Friends in Service Helping) program. Current needs call for FISH drivers to transport seniors to medical appointments based on volunteers’ availability and location preferences, as well as FISH callers to match available volunteer drivers with seniors needing rides to such appointments. Callers are “on duty” one day per month, typically managing two to four requests. Check the website for other COA opportunities.

The town is also looking for volunteers to serve on several committees, including the Cultural Council, the Preservation Restriction Committee, the Recreation Master Plan Steering Committee, and the Stormwater Permitting Authority. Check the town website for information about the committees, particular opportunities within each committee, and deadlines for applying.
