Weston's State Representation to Remain the Same

Under the new proposed legislative district maps, Weston would keep the same state senator and state representative.

The Massachusetts Legislature released a new proposed redistricting plan on Tuesday, and as it stands now, Weston would remain in the same districts, with the same representation, as it has before. But the districts are scheduled to change slightly.

Third Middlesex

This district is currently represented by State Sen. Susan Fargo (D-Lincoln) and includes all of Weston. The only change being proposed is switching a precinct over to the Third Middlesex in Sudbury. Fargo will continue to represent Bedford, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Concord, parts of Lexington, Lincoln, Waltham and Weston.

14th Norfolk

This district is currently represented by State Rep. Alice Hanlon Peisch (D-Wellesley). The only change here is removing the one precinct in Natick and adding parts of Wayland. Peisch will continue to represent all of Weston and Wellesley.

Congressional Maps

WBUR.org is reporting that the Congressional maps are not ready yet as that redistricting is "further complicated by the need to eliminate one of Massachusetts’ 10 districts."

State representatives must live in their district for a full year prior to election, which means these redrawn maps need to be approved by Legislature and signed by Gov. Deval Patrick by Nov. 4, 2011 in order to meet the deadline of the Nov. 4, 2012 election, WBUR reports.
