Your Five-Minute Guide to the Weston Town Election

Get some quick facts about the election today.

Today, Saturday, May 7, is the annual town election. Here's what you need to know:

  • Polls are open today from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the  auditorium.
  • A sample ballot is available at right. You'll see that a variety of town offices are up for election, as well as three ballot questions.
  • The three ballot questions have to do with debt exclusions—aka Proposition 2 1/2. The ballot questions deal with several capital improvement projects, such as the high school science labs, DPW drainage improvement projects and a new roof for the middle school.
  • However, Town Meeting, held next week on Monday and Wednesday, will actually vote to allocate funds for the aforementioned projects. Both the ballot questions and the warrant articles at Town Meeting must be passed in order for the money to be allocated.
  • After you're done voting, head over to the police station and DPW building, where both groups are holding an open house for residents all day long.
