Weston Not Among Globe Magazine's 'Top Spots to Live'; Earns Honorable Mention

Weston's earned just an honorable mention in a list based on return on real estate investment in 2013.

Weston didn't make the Boston Globe Magazine's "Top Places to Live" in 2013 list, but it did earn an honorable mention.

Citing the importance of home buyers wanting to "feel confident that they’re making a good investment" when purchasing a home, the Globe identified 13 communities "all on the upswing, with the biggest single-family home price increases in Greater Boston from 2011 to 2012."

Among the 13 communities on the list, and the 19 honorable mention communities, Weston came in with the highest median price for a single-family home at $1,250,000 in 2012. That's an 8.7 percent increase over the median 2011 price, according to the feature story.

And Weston's 8.7 percent increase is the greatest increase among the honorable mention communities, but it wasn't high enough to compete with the communities that made the overall list. Among the top 13, Groveland and Freetown showed the lowest increases, both at 9.17 percent, while Shirley topped the list with a 26.19 percent increase in median home price from 2011 to 2012.

The Top 13 included, in alphabetical order, Beverly, Cambridge, Freetown, Groveland, Medfield, Newbury, Revere, Rockland, Shirley, South Boston, Stoughton, Swampscott and Topsfield.
