Field Community Mourns Following Sudden Death of Teacher

The school department sent out a correspondence of action taken since the death of Field School fourth grade teacher Tuesday.

The Field Elementary School community is mourning the death of a fourth grade teacher.

On Tuesday, the school department announced that teacher Fred Jordan died "suddenly." Grief counselors were at the school helping students cope with the tragedy yesterday.

Students were made aware of Jordan's death in the morning, and were allowed to follow up with questions and concerns, according to a school announcement.

"Teachers reported that students were varied in their responses and questions, which is expected developmentally," the announcement said. "There were some questions that were raised that teachers couldn’t answer for lack of information from Mr. Jordan’s family. Overwhelmingly, these conversations were described as thoughtful, calm and productive."

The school department has yet to issue information regarding the reason behind Jordan's death.
