More Sleep For Teens: Weston High School Might Adopt Later Start Time

Superintendent Cheryl Maloney told Boston.com that teenagers need “a lot” of sleep.

’s day begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 2:50 p.m., making it one of the longest in the state, according to Boston.com.

A committee is eyeing a change to that schedule, and Superintendent Cheryl Maloney said she thinks a later start time would be a positive difference.

“Teenagers need a lot, a lot of sleep,” she said to Boston.com.

If the committee so decides, a change could come during the 2013-2014 school year, according to the story.

Brilliant -- it can't come soon enough.

Thank you for Dr. Maloney for looking at this. I agree with the previous commenter, the sooner this change is made the better. A humane start time for the High School students will pay dividends in better behavior and retained learning.
