Weston High School to Compete with Shrewsbury in High School Quiz Show

Tapings for show to begin later in January, with Weston vs. Shrewsbury to air April 1.

High School Quiz Show, WGBH’s Emmy-Award winning fast-paced academic game show, today announced the 2012 tournament bracket for the 16 Massachusetts public high school academic teams, which will include Weston, competing on season three of the show.

The 2012 qualifying team matchups and episode broadcast dates are:

Brookline vs. Seekonk – February 12 

Hamilton-Wenham vs. Sharon – February 19

Lincoln-Sudbury vs. Lexington – March 18

All episodes premiere Sundays at 6:30 p.m., repeating on Saturdays at 6 p.m., on WGBH 2.

Hosted by KISS 108 radio personality Billy Costa, High School Quiz Show is a single-elimination bracketed academic tournament, featuring qualifying matches, quarterfinals and semifinals, all leading up to a Massachusetts championship match.

High School Quiz Show is endorsed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). This year, The Princeton Review will judge the televised competition and help the DESE vet the questions. All questions are aligned with Massachusetts high school curriculum standards in subjects including literature, history, science, and math, as well as current events and general knowledge.
