Weston School Hosting, Students Competing in Weekend Math Competition

The Mathcounts competition will take place Saturday, Feb. 2, at Meadowbrook School in Weston.

Students from throughout the area will converge on the Meadowbrook School this weekend to compete in the Metrowest chapter Mathcounts competition.

Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students from 27 public and independent schools across the Metrowest area, including Weston, will be participating Saturday, Feb. 2, in the competition at Meadowbrook School.

"Mathcounts is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging 'bee' style contests," according to a press release.

The top five teams from Saturday's regional tournament will advance to the state tournament.

The competition begins at 8:30 a.m. and will consist of four rounds: sprint, target, team and countdown. The countdown round "is a head-to-head competition (no calculator, no more than 45 seconds to answer)," according to the press release.
