What You Need to Know For the First Day of School

Sept. 3 is the first day of school for the vast majority of Weston students. 

Here is the calendar for the 2013-2014 school year:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 3 – First day of school (Grades 2 through 12)
  • Wednesday, Sept. 4 – First day of school (Grade 1)
  • Thursday, Sept. 5 – No school – Rosh Hashanah
  • Friday, Sept. 6 – First day of school (kindergarten)
  • Monday, Sept. 23 – Full-day kindergarten begins
  • Monday, Oct. 14 – No school – Columbus Day
  • Monday, Oct. 28 – No kindergarten – parent conferences
  • Monday, Nov. 11 – No school – Veterans Day
  • Thursday, Nov. 28-Friday, Nov. 29 – No school – Thanksgiving recess
  • Monday, Dec. 23-Wednesday, Jan. 1 – No school – First winter recess
  • Monday, Jan. 20 – No school – Martin Luther King’s Birthday
  • Tuesday, Jan. 21 – No school – teacher in-service workshop
  • Monday, Jan. 27 – End of high school first semester
  • Monday, Feb. 17-Friday, Feb. 21 – No school – Second winter recess
  • Friday, April 18 – Early dismissal – Good Friday
  • Monday, April 21-Friday, April 25 – No school – Spring recess
  • Wednesday, May 14 – No kindergarten – parent conferences
  • Monday, May 19 – No kindergarten – parent conferences
  • Monday, May 26 – No school – Memorial Day
  • Wednesday, May 28 – No kindergarten – incoming kindergarten visit
  • Friday, June 6 – High school graduation
  • Tuesday, June 17 – Earliest date for last day of school (180th day)
  • Tuesday, June 24 – Earliest 180th day (with five emergency days built into schedule)

School bus schedules

The elementary routes are between 7:25 and 8:05 a.m. for the 8:10 a.m. opening.

Here are the elementary school routes.

The middle and high schools routes are between 6:45 a.m. and 7:20 a.m. with middle school starting the school day at 7:40 a.m. and high school at 7:30 a.m.

The 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. activities bus allows students to participate in after-school activities.

The late bus routes are:

Orange Bus – All of the south side, west of Wellesley Street, including Route 20

Red Bus – All of the south side, east of Wellesley Street, including Route 20.

Green Bus – Highland Street to the north side, west of Conant Road.

Blue Bus – Ash and Newton streets to the north side, east of Conant Road.
