Impressive Start for Wayland-Weston Girls’ Crew

The Wayland-Weston girls' crew team performed well in its first race of the season, a scrimmage at Lake Cochituate.

Lake Cochituate was the site of a pre-season scrimmage between host Wayland-Weston and crews from Essex and Brookline Sunday, April 15. The warm temperatures and clear skies made for excellent racing and spectating.

In their first races of the season, the Wayland-Weston girls displayed their strength and conditioning. Even though they started training just three weeks ago, the WW rowers worked well together, looking smooth and fast.

This was the first race under the direction of the new girls’ head coach, Borislav Kusturic.

The Wayland-Weston girls’ team swept the competition, with no visiting boat finishing closer than three seconds behind the host team.

The girls had four races, starting off with two races of fours (four rowers and a coxswain) and finishing with two races of eights (eight rowers and a coxswain).
