Weston Linebacker Igwe-Kalu Featured in Weekly Athlete Profile
Senior called "strong, fast and physical" by coach.
Weston linebacker Igwe Igwe-Kalu has been featured in a MetroWest Subaru High School Sports weekly profile.
Despite a “tough” season that ended with an overall record of 1-10 and a Thanksgiving Day loss to Wayland, the Weston football team had a strong leader in Igwe-Kalu, according to head coach Sean McHugh.
“As a leader, Igwe has been great … he’s probably our best leader,” said McHugh in the MetroWest Subaru clip. “It’s been a hard season and we’ve lost a lot of football games. I think the kids look to him when times are tough.”

In the clip, Igwe-Kalu credits his success to his Nigerian parents, whom he said “tried their hardest to succeed. I thought to myself, ‘I could follow in their footsteps.’”
A football player since he was in seventh grade, Igwe-Kalu is headed to Tufts University next fall.
