American Red Cross Blood Drive at Weston High School

National Honors Society to Host a Blood Drive in the Weston High School parking lot on Tuesday, April 24.

Now, truth be told, I get very nervous around blood. In fact, I have indefinitely crossed "medicine" off my list of possible fields to pursue. So why then am I writing about the upcoming blood drive at ?

As an officer to the National Honor's Society at the high school, I am part of the group of students responsible for generating charity events for NHS members to facilitate and in turn represent the high school in a good light. Springtime is always a busy time for events in and out of the town that are heavily concentrated in the involvement of kids my age around Weston. (As you'll see with my upcoming blog posts.) The NHS group at WHS is just another vehicle that brings students out into the community, especially when the weather turns nice. :)

One of said events is the blood drive at the high school. Although technically, it isn't a very out-doors event. On Tuesday, April 24, a Red Cross truck will be pulling up to the high school to offer a blood drive for students and teachers. The van will by open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and all students above age 16 are welcome. There are specific height and weight requirements for individuals who want to give blood. All students who want to participate also have to complete two permission slips, one for the high school and one for the Red Cross.

Only three out of every 100 Americans donate blood, and sadly the need is never satisfied. If you qualify, please donate blood and help make a difference in the life of somebody else.
