Spring Fling to Animate Town Green Saturday

Spring Fling Fundraiser on Saturday to benefit the Kasisi Project. All are welcome to this action packed day of festivities!

Springtime has sprung! It is that time of year again when nearly every weekend Weston is lively and festive with happenings. Coming up this Saturday is the much-anticipated Spring Fling, held on the Town Green.

Spring Fling is hosted by the Student Council at , so I spoke with StuCo co-president, Adam Guerin, to get some more information. “Spring Fling is held every year as a fesatival for the kids of Weston,” explains Guerin, “it is made possible by the collaboration of StuCo with Student Government.”

I am part of Student Government, and in contrast to StuCo, we officers typically focus on concerns of just the Class of 2012. It’s nice to have an event like this that involves such a collaborative effort.

The fair is full of a variety of things to do, “Each group and grade government run a booth with some fun activity involved.” The fun doesn’t come without a price, however, Guerin informs me, “everyone can participate as long as they purchase tickets.” Tickets will be on sale on the green for a dollar a piece.

Spring Fling is a fundraiser each year for the charity of choice of StuCo. This year, funds will be sent to our sister school in Uganda, the Kasisi School. Throughout the years Weston students have teamed together to sponser Kasisi scholars in order for them to persue further education. Remarkably, one such student, Akandwahano Dominic, will be attending Harvard next fall.

"There will several preformances through the day," shares Guerin. Musical groups from the high school, as well as outside preformace arts will occupy the stage for at least some time Saturday afternoon.

There will be a large grill where StuCo will provide refreshments for tickets all day.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Town Green this Saturday. Tickets are $1 each and go to a great cause. Please come by and support the cause!
