Will a Killed Halloween Night Kill the Halloween Spirit?

WPD Cancel Trick-or-Treating for safety reasons. Will that change the holiday spirit?

Apart from the school cancelings, Weston's children have something to frown about this year for Halloween trick-or-treating. With wires being down and houses still without power, the . "Halloween" will now be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4.

This is a first for me. A canceled holiday. When I got the call, I was actually stunned. Can they really do that?!

It makes sense to me now, of course, as I realize the perils of trick-or-treating with such power outages, but darn! That's tradition.

So here's the question, can Weston youth keep the Halloween Spirit well into November? I know I'll do my rounds knocking on doors and collecting candy, but will it feel the same?

I can hear it now, "Trick or Treat! Turkey's in the oven!" It's practically Thanksgiving!

I guess the benefits of this momentous date change is that now there is no doubt my Reece's and Snickers will last until Christmas. Yessssss.

This just in... rumor has it they're moving Easter to the following Saturday. Mr. Bunny has a hot date.

So readers, please, do me a favor. Help me keep the Halloween Spirit this year! Keep those Jack-o-lantern's lit and the candy bowl stuffed. I'll be roaming the streets Friday night with my buddies dressed for one of the most unique Halloween experiences yet... get ready!

Happy Halloween folks. Stay safe and have fun!
