Founders' Day Parade and Festival: What You Need to Know

The Founders’ Day Parade and Festival is Saturday, Oct. 5 from at 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Weston will celebrate its 300th anniversary rain or shine. Large crowds are expected so the town is asking residents to take note of the short-term road closures and parking:

Short-term Road Closures

From 11:45 a.m. until approximately 2 p.m., the following roads will be closed to access Boston Post Road (Town Center). Police detail will be present at these intersections.

Church Street (from Boston Post Road to Conant Road)
Centre Road (Fire Station/Omni)
Concord Road
Golden Ball Road (from Boston Post Road to Rte. 20)
Conant Road (access left onto Church Street – no right turn)
Colpitts Road 
Linwood Avenue

As the parade moves along, these roads will re-open to access Boston Post Road to the Town Center. Please plan accordingly during this time.

Parade Parking

Parking will be limited and large crowds are expected, please make every effort to carpool, walk, or bike.

There WILL BE parking along the parade route on Boston Post Road; HOWEVER, you WILL NOT be able to move your car during the parade.  If you live in the Boston Post Road area and anticipate that you’ll need your car during the parade, you should move your car prior to the parade or wait until 2 p.m.

Parking will be allowed:

Boston Post Road

Rte. 20 WESTBOUND SIDE ONLY - from St. Peter’s Church (By-pass Rd./Rte. 20) to Linwood Avenue.

Parking will be open at the elementary schools and community center. A shuttle bus will be running from First Parish Church, to the schools, to the DPW during the day.

Parade Route

The Parade will begin at noon and will cross Rte. 20, heading west toward Golden Ball Road. Police detail will be directing traffic and parade participants.  The bands will stop in front of Josiah Smith Tavern and face the reviewing stands while the rest of the parade will head up Church Street and turn left onto Town House Road.

All parade participants will be assembling at the DPW station on Rte. 20 beginning at 11 a.m. Please car pool or drop-off. Parking is allowed at the schools off Alphabet Lane. There is a walking trail behind Woodland School that will lead you to the DPW facility through Linwood Cemetery. Signs will be posted.

Viewing Area

Anywhere along Boston Post Road from Golden Ball Road/Warren Avenue to the Town Green will be a great place to see the parade! There will bleacher-type seating set up on the JST/OL side of Town Green where the bands will stop and perform.

The Festival

The Founders’ Day Festival begins at 11 a.m. on the Town Green. There are many activities and games planned, as well as food, music, fire baton twirling, pie contest (and sales), a Tavern Trek, square dancing, and so much more! This will be a fun-filled family event and the final big celebration of our Town’s 300th anniversary.

At 3 p.m. sharp – there will be an aerial town photograph. EVERY town resident is invited to have their picture taken on the Town Green for this historic shot! Festivities will end at 4 p.m.

Festival Parking

Parking will be limited and large crowds are expected, please make every effort to carpool, walk, or bike.

All of Boston Post Road after 2 p.m. (some areas in front of the Town Green will be blocked off from parking).
