Hurricane Sandy Tears Through Weston

Winds in the area reached upwards of 85 mph.

Hurricane Sandy blew through the east coast yesterday and left a serious mark on Weston. Wellesley Street began to flood before the 3 o’clock hour and tree limbs and other debris littered the streets throughout the night. Superintendent Cheryl Maloney closed schools for the second day as of 8:45 last night. Traffic was at a standstill on Boston Post Road Extension near the Weston Police Station yesterday afternoon as crews cleared roadways. Just over 59 percent of Weston was without power into the nighttime hours, according to an NSTAR outage map. Stay tuned to Weston Patch for updates throughout the day.
