Team from Meadowbrook School Headed to Mathcounts State Championship

The Meadowbrook School team came out on top at last weekend's regional competition.

The information below was provided by Meadowbrook School Director of Communications Pam Scafati. Mathletes from the Meadowbrook School are celebrating after a big win on Feb. 2, in a competition among 27 local middle schools. The Metrowest Mathcounts competition was held at the Meadowbrook School, and the host school came away as the big winner of the day, with the top team overall as well as the individual student with the highest score, 7th grader Matthew Lipman. All of the competitors completed three rounds of competition math problems, including both individual problem sets and a group-based problem set. Lipman earned the highest score of the nearly 200 students in attendance, and went on to win the Countdown round in the afternoon. …

Weston School Hosting, Students Competing in Weekend Math Competition

The Mathcounts competition will take place Saturday, Feb. 2, at Meadowbrook School in Weston.

Students from throughout the area will converge on the Meadowbrook School this weekend to compete in the Metrowest chapter Mathcounts competition. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students from 27 public and independent schools across the Metrowest area, including Weston, will be participating Saturday, Feb. 2, in the competition at Meadowbrook School. "Mathcounts is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging 'bee' style contests," according to a press release.  The top five teams from Saturday's regional tournament will advance to the state tournament. The Meadowbrook School Receives $5 Million Gift

New endowment established with gift from Penny and Jeff Vinik.

  Editor's Note: The following is a press release from The Meadowbrook School:  The Meadowbrook School announced recently that long-time benefactors Penny and Jeff Vinik have established a new endowment with a gift of $5 million to the school. Income from the endowment will provide bonuses to all faculty (teachers and staff), given each year before the holiday season, for the duration of their employment at the school. This is the largest single gift that the school has received in its 84-year history.   “Meadowbrook has played a huge role in the lives of our children,” said Jeff Vinik. “We know how hard this faculty works, day in and day out, for the benefit of its students. Meadowbrook Student to Compete in National Math Tournament

Seventh grader finishes fourth in state to advance to nationals; Meadowbrook team finishes seventh state-wide.

The following information is from The Meadowbrook School: A seventh grade student from the Meadowbrook School of Weston will represent Massachusetts at the national MATHCOUNTS tournament. Matthew Lipman, a Lexington resident, placed fourth in the statewide tournament held last weekend at Wentworth Institute of Technology to earn a spot on the Massachusetts team. Matthew and three other middle school students from schools across the state will compete at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., in May. Only four out of 128 students competing at the state level advanced to the national contest. Meadowbrook School Takes Second Place in Regional MATHCOUNTS Competition

Last Saturday, The Meadowbrook School of Weston hosted the Metrowest Regional MATHCOUNTS competition. “Mathletes” in grades six, seven and eight from 23 area public and private schools, including Meadowbrook and Weston Middle School, competed in the tournament. Meadowbrook’s math team finished in second place, qualifying them to advance to the state-wide competition. MATHCOUNTS is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging “bee” style contests. Meadowbrook School Wins National LEGO Competition

School beats 2,500 schools to win contest.

Students at The Meadowbrook School of Weston are celebrating after learning their entry into the LEGO® Smart Creativity Contest was selected as the Grand Prize winner.  The contest, hosted by LEGO Education North America, was designed for educators to showcase their creativity by demonstrating in an original video how they used LEGO Education products in their classrooms to spark student innovation.  More than 2,500 educators registered for the contest and winners were selected in Lower Elementary (K-2), Upper Elementary (3-5), Middle School (6-8), High School (9-12), and Homeschool segments, and Meadowbrook was chosen from all submitted entries.  As the …
