Well, it's Jan. 2. How many of you have already fallen off the New Year's resolution wagon? Here's hoping your commitment is holding firm. It's that time of the year....
The new year is almost upon us. I'm left wondering what my New Year's resolutions will be — or if I'll even make any this year. I've always looked at New Year's resolutions as a quick thought at the end of the year about how I'd like to improve myself over the next year. Do those thoughts linger much past early January? Do I really resolve to make change in my life? Honestly, no. Typical resolutions include losing weight, eating better or exercising more. I could use a little resolution around all of those... as I sit here eating a Christmas cookie for breakfast! Luckily I just joined the gym this month. I also want to start working more vegetables into my diet. I saw some success at this in the past year, but know that on my plate there…

I have a unique resolution this year.
In addition to the standard resolution to exercise more and lay off the sweets in the new year, I've got a unique resolution this year: I resolve not to adopt any cats. It's a resolution that will be tough to keep. There are so many cute, cuddly kittens and cats out there who could use a new home — my home! But I promised my fiancé (who's allergic) that after my beloved cat, Aspen, died, that would be the end of cats for me. As of last week, Aspen is no longer with me, after she died of cancer. It ended a 9.5-year relationship between us, one that began when I noticed a sign for free kittens at a yard sale in 2002. When I saw the little black kittens, I melted. But then I saw their mom, a beautiful gray cat with big yellow eyes that stared…
