Congratulations, Class of 2013! Think of the rain as a good omen and have a truly fantastic day. The same thing happened to the Class of 1986, torrential rain and an indoor graduation, but it was all still wonderful for everybody, as it is sure to be tonight. Have fun!   more ›

Local Teens Take Over Hingham Weather Website

A pair of high school students will handle updates on HinghamWeather.com.

While its founder has moved on to an on-air meteorologist position in Burlington, Vermont, a Weston student has joined a team to help run HinghamWeather.com. The website provides local weather updates for Hingham and the surrounding area. Hingham native Michael Page started the website in 2005 while attending Hingham High School. He continued to update the site as a student at Penn State where he studied meteorology with a focus on forecasting and communications. Now, Page will forecast the weather in Burlington at FOX 44/ABC 22. In early May, Antico began updating the forecast section and Kee started submitting weather-related blogs to the site.

I don't support Article 14 - Case Corner Roundabout Plan. Until ALL Weston students are receiving an appropriate and meaningful education it is beyond ludicrous to be even talking about spending additional funds to beautify a campus or change a traffic pattern that is working sufficiently. Money MUST be better spent educating students who are most in need of an education and whose education has …   more ›

Weston High Fails to Make Newsweek's Top-Rated Schools List

The magazine's 2013 rankings came out Monday.

On mobile? You can see interactive map here. Newsweek has ranked the high schools nationally, but the criteria it used leaves Weston High School off of the list. This, in spite of Weston High's No. 1 ranking in Boston Magazine's 2012 list of the top 20 high schools in Boston and the Boston suburbs. Weston High School also failed to rank in US News' top 500 high schools nationally. For its rankings, Newsweek sent out a survey to more than 5,000 high schools in the U.S., with about 2,500 schools responding in 2013. You can see the details about the ranking, and every other ranked high school by clicking on the markers in the interactive map above. The survey scores were then weighted and calculated using several criteria including on-time …

People moving into the town care, unfortunately over time it effects real estate values. Seems silly and stupid, but everyone lives and dies by this rankings as it is all about managing fears and expectations of putting your money down only on "the best". How you do that is with data. If this is their only data points, it makes a difference.   more ›
