Weston Patch is Seeking New Bloggers

Have an opinion? A passion? A hobby? Share it on Weston Patch.

Calling all hobbyists, advocates and meeting attendees. Parents, students and teens. Pet-lovers, sports enthusiasts and volunteers. Weston Patch is seeking a few good bloggers on our site. Are you passionate about government? Do you attend School Committee meetings? Maybe you sit on a local board, committee or group? Do you volunteer in town? Weston bloggers had a variety of topics on their minds this week, ranging from a Weston300 historical display, to four great reasons to live in Weston, to an a cappella sleepover. Here's a quick roundup, but all Weston blogs are available in the Local Voices section. So What Is a Blog, Anyway?

You've been hearing a lot about blogs on Weston Patch recently. But what does it all mean?

If you're a regular reader of Weston Patch, you may have noticed we've been talking a lot about blogs lately—a lot.  But that may have led you to wonder: What, exactly, is a blog? We're here to answer that for you.  "Blog" is really a short form of "weblog," a term that was first coined in 1997, but that nobody really uses any more. The first weblogs, or blogs, were generally set up by people who wanted to share interesting links, photos or videos they had come across on the Internet. They later evolved to longer-form posts that might discuss the author's personal life or personal opinions about various issues. Blogging is a pretty free-form type of creating.
