The town of Weston will open land for bow hunting for deer beginning Monday. The Weston Conservation Commission will open five parcels between Oct. 15 and Dec. 31, which is state bow hunting season, according to a commission frequently asked questions list. Hunters have been assigned to Jericho and Ogilvie Town Forests, Dickson Fields, Blaney Aquifer, and Sears Land, according to the FAQ. The FAQ covers whether hunting will disrupt other outdoor activities such as walking, and detailed, specific rules by which hunters must operate. I agree it would be nice to have rational and supported arguments. I just wish the "studies" were not misrepresented. I just finished reading the study cited above. It in fact does NOTsay that reducing the deer population through means including hunting is absolutely effective in reducing the rate of Lyme Disease.
