The Weston Democrats will hold caucus later this month to elect their 2013 convention delegates.
On Sunday, Feb. 10, Weston Democrats will gather at First Parish Church in Weston at 2 p.m. for the task of electing delegates to the Massachusetts Democratic Party's 2013 Platform Convention. All registered Democrats in Weston are eligible and welcome to participate in the caucus. A hearing soliciting feedback on issues important to the state for the 2013 platform will follow the caucus. Melea Atkins represented youth voters as a delegate from Weston. Joe Mullin and Nazda Alam also attended as ex officio delegates in their roles as members of the Democratic State Committee. Weston delegates voted overwhelmingly for Warren. Joseph Mullin, longtime Weston resident and former selectman, will run for the Third Middlesex District seat currently occupied by State Senator Susan Fargo, who announced Friday that she will not seek a ninth term. In a conversation with Patch, Mullin, who announced his intention to run for the seat at a weekend meeting of the Third Middlesex Area Democrats in Waltham, said a myriad of factors informed his decision to run again for a seat that he first sought more than 20 years ago. A Weston man has announced that he plans to run for the 3rd Middlesex District seat currently occupied by State Senator Susan Fargo, who announced Friday that she will not seek a ninth term. Joseph Mullin made the announcement at a meeting yesterday of the Third Middlesex Area Democrats in Waltham. Mara Dolan of Concord and Alex Buck of Chelmsford also announced their intentions to run for the seat at the meeting. According to the Weston Democratic Town Committee website, Mullin, a longtime member, served as an ex officio delegate at last year's Democratic Party Convention.
