Weston Library 'Friends' Collecting Family Recipes for Cookbook

Cookbook to capture the flavor of Weston as part of the Weston 300th birthday celebration.

The following information was provided by The Friends of the Weston Public Library:

The Friends of the Weston Public Library (FWPL/”The Friends”) will participate in the Weston 300th birthday celebration by sponsoring a cookbook containing family-friendly recipes shared by residents.

Interwoven into the cookbook will be history, anecdotes, and personal narratives of the Weston community. The committee is circulating forms for submitting recipes so anyone wishing to secure their place on the pages of Weston’s culinary history should obtain theirs from any of the following locations: the Library, the Council on Aging or online.

  •     subsidize museum passes to many local attractions

These activities depend completely on contributions which The Friends raise in two ways: annual memberships and the used book sale. To join The Friends, go to www.westonlibrary.org and select “Friends” from the left menu, then “Join the FWPL.”

In its early incarnation, the public library in Weston occupied a room in the Town House (original Town Hall). It has always enjoyed widespread popular use and according to the Town of Weston: Report of The Library Committee for 1861, “A library-room is not only for delivery of books, but for social intercourse and friendly greeting...”

The Friends share this spirit and encourage residents to support their upcoming cookbook by submitting recipes to enrich the flavor of Weston. The cookbook will be available for purchase in January 2013.
