Coburn: I've lived in Weston all of my life, have a long family history with the town, and believe in people stepping up to make government and democracy work. It's something I've always thought was important and a way I think I can contribute.

Q. What is your background in local government or community involvement?

Coburn: I am a member and chaired the Weston Tercentennial Steering Committee, am a trustee of the Weston Affordable Housing Trust, and President of the Weston Affordable Housing Foundation, Inc. In the past I was on the search committees for our Town Manager, and the school Athletic Director. I have served many years on the boards of the Weston Land Trust, the Weston Scout House, and Roxbury-Weston Programs (preschool). I have also coached youth sports including a total of almost 40 seasons of baseball, soccer, and hockey. Those are my major areas of involvement.

Q. Do you have other experiences that will help you in the position?

Coburn: I have worked in the media business my entire career, the last 11 plus years as the Publishing Director at Harvard Medical School. I am also a long-time director and past president of the Specialized Information Publishers Association.

Q. If elected, what would you bring to the Board of Selectmen?

Coburn: From the publishing business I have developed an appreciation for the importance of communication, and as a business manager and leader I have learned that the best results come from creating an engaging environment so everyone wants to contribute. I have also had to make tough choices and decisions and know that even if people don't like the decision, if it is made openly and fairly, and implemented with respect, most people will accept it.

Q. Name one thing the residents of Weston may not know about you.

Coburn: I am pretty into fitness and outdoor activities, and I love music of (almost) all types and have a pretty constant soundtrack to my life.
