Romney Wins in Weston Presidential Primary

The former Massachusetts governor won easily in Weston over Paul, Santorum and Gingrich.

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney was the clear winner among Weston voters in yesterday's presidential primary, after 1,115 voters cast Republican ballots, according to results posted on the town website.

Romney got 921 votes, with Ron Paul coming in a distant second with 73 votes. Rick Santorum netted 60 votes, while Newt Gingrich got 45 votes. Michelle Bachmann, Rick Perry and Jon Huntsman all got less than 10 votes apiece from Weston Republicans. 

Totals were tighter for the Republican State Committee in the Third Middlesex District, with Michael Benn getting 343 Weston votes. Peter Dulchinos nabbed 225 votes while Francis Stanton got 214. For the women, Sandy Martinez got 749 votes.

On the Democratic ticket, President Barack Obama took 208 of 227 Weston votes, with the remainder being blanks or write-in votes for Romney or Paul. 

For the Democratic State Committee, Ron Cordes got 165 votes, while Janet Beyer won 171 votes.
